Goooooooooo Team Trochesset!
Do you remember way back when we started, and I posted about how our word for the day was flexibility? Which then turned into the word for the week, and then the month, and now we are adopting it as our motto for this trip - and maybe the rest of our lives.
I have not always been very flexible; Johns laughing as I write this, and the truth of it is that maybe flexibility was not even in my vocabulary. My personality likes things done my way, and my way now.
As I look back, I can see there have been things that have happened in my life to try and teach me this valuable lesson but I just wasn't having any of it; I was chalking it up to, whatever was meant to be. But that phrase is still very different than being flexible. There was still a sense of I'm going to do it my way, and if it goes really bad - then I will reflect on the event, and figure out the deeper meaning or life lesson.
Being flexible has come to mean - There is an agenda but beyond the act of planning it, whatever happens happens, you don't get your panties in a bunch, and you change with GRACE and a sense of humour. Flexibility means we start out for point A but along the way point B pops up and we spend the whole day enjoying the San Pedro river with half naked two year olds. . . yes, there is grace in that.
Being flexible also means knowing when it is time to go home at the seven month mark instead of the planned year long adventure. Yes, you have seen it correct, we are heading home as I type. We have discovered we love being on the road so much that we are going to wrap things up on a more permanent basis in Iowa. We have so many options in front us and being flexible is just the beginning.
