Quite the Crew!
The two older girls are out of the house and have families of their own, leading happy healthy lives in Southern Mississippi, where John is originally from. We like to spend as much time as possible with our grown kids and grandchildren on the beaches enjoying the sun and sand.
The younger set of kids are all enjoying life among the rolling hills in Eastern Iowa.
In 2008, John and I became foster/adoptive parents in Iowa after suffering from empty nest syndrome, and it wasn't long before our house was filled with the pitter pat of lots of little ones. Each of them are so special and fill our days with lots of laughs and tears. Each have their own stories to tell, and all are survivors! All of them carry trauma baggage from their past, and we spend most of our days doing heart work, while learning what it means to be a family. Although some days are better than others, we wouldn't trade any of them - what does not kill us makes us stronger.
Helpful Hanna is the oldest of the seven, and she takes her eldest role seriously. Hanna is growing into a beautiful young adult right before our eyes.
Lefty Lexi is becoming quite the artist. It is a joy watching her learn how to express her inner thoughts on the outside and navigating those teen years.
Musical Maia always has a beat going, and dances to her own rhythm. Our earthy Maia is not afraid to show the world who she is and what she can do. Now, as a tween, she is really moving and shaking.
Courageous Ciara is daddy's Nubian princess, and uses her strong will to persist through all obsticals in her way. She is doing more at the age of 11 than most doctors thought she would ever do.
Jok'n Johnny, the only boy, prince charming. Johnny is always looking for a laugh, trying to make a place for himself among all these girls, and doing a darn good job of it.
Friendly Freya, our little love goddess, doesn't know a stranger. She is fearless and strong and seems wiser than her years.
Joyful Joclyn, the baby of the family (even if it is by just 6 minutes), will one day rule the whole family - just ask her; As her name suggests, she is the tribal leader.
John and Christine, the crazy drivers of this crazy tribe. We met while stationed together at Hurlburt AFB in Florida over 25 years ago. With our love of travel and each other, we are enjoying this amazing journey!
Thank-you for stopping by and hope to see you on the trail!
